The North Kaneshie Assemblies of God church has marked its golden jubilee celebrations with a call on Ghanaians to eschew all forms of social vices.

The senior Pastor of the church, Rev. Anthony John Doeh in a sermon said social vices emanating from various quarters in society could be addressed if families were strengthened to understand and appreciate each other.

According to him, the failure by society especially the church to lay emphasis on the need for all to be united irrespective of one’s background has led to sometimes abuse and the killing of people.

He said the church as part of its year-long programme is embarking on a series of activities aimed at strengthening and establishing families.

“We want to establish and strengthen families in order to do away with issues such as murder, abuse, which is common as a result of misunderstanding between families”.

He also stated that as part of the activities marking the week long anniversary, the church would showcase businesses owned by members of the church while sensitizing members on the need to start and grow businesses to complement government efforts of reducing unemployment.

Rev. Doeh also used the occasion to offer prayers for mothers as the day also coincided with the Mother’s Day celebrations across the country.

Chairman of the anniversary planning committee, Samuel Sakyi Duodu, said the anniversary marks an important milestone in the history of the church giving the contribution of the church to Christianity in Ghana.

He mentioned that the church which was part of the only two churches established in Accra with 8 members now has over 2000 members.

He said the long term vision of the church is to establish schools, and training centres to help impact lives particularly the youth who may be less privileged and need support to acquire some skills to earn a livelihood for themselves.

Leader of the women’s Ministry of the church, Felicia Gyamy, advised women to “mother” not only their biological children but every child   whichever way they could as enjoined by Jesus Christ.

The week long anniversary is celebrated under the theme” Ebenezer, Thus far the lord has helped us.
