KMA Gets GH¢66,950 Cash

The National Investment Bank officials presenting the cash to Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi

KUMASI MAYOR, Osei Assibey Antwi’s efforts to restore Kumasi’s lost ‘Garden City’ status, has been recognized and supported with a good cash.

The assembly has taken delivery of GH¢66,950 from the National Investment Bank during a short and colourful ceremony.

The amount is expected to be channeled into the funding of the assembly’s ‘Keep the City Clean and Green’ programme, to beautify the city.

A brainchild of Mr Osei Assibey, the ‘Keep the City Clean and Green’ project, among others, would help make Kumasi look green and sublime.

Mr. Charles Wordey, Head of Corporate Affairs, National Investment Bank, said the KMA wrote to his bank for the support of the massive sanitation programme.

He said as part of their corporate social responsibilities, the National Investment Bank decided to support the KMA with the amount to make Kumasi look clean.

Mr. Wordey expressed concern about how Kumasi had lost its famous ‘Garden City’ status, adding that the bank really wants to see Kumasi bounced back.

He therefore charged the assembly to use the money for the intended purpose so that “very soon Kumasi would become clean and green once again.”

On his part, the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey, urged other corporate institutions in the city to emulate the shining example of the donors by assisting the KMA.

He stated that his resolve of helping to make Kumasi the Garden City of West Africa once again is non-negotiable, urging all and sundry to support the Assembly.
