KMA Gets Green Light

Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, looks on as a representative of All State Construction signs on the document

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has reached an agreement with All State Construction Ltd for the immediate demolition of three buildings of the company at the Kejetia Bus Terminal.

Per the agreement, which was signed at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the seat of the Asantehene on Monday, the KMA has decided to ensure that All State Construction is compensated adequately by government.

The KMA has also agreed in principle that the required compensation would be paid for two structures of All State Construction Ltd, which were demolished at the Kejetia Bus Terminal previously.

The agreement was brokered by the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC), headed by the Bantamahene, Baffuor Owusu Amankwatia to end the legal tussle between the KMA and All State Construction.

The KMA Chief Executive, Osei Assibey Antwi, Presiding Member (PM) Abraham Boadi aka ‘Opooman’ and their lawyers were at the palace to sign the agreement in the presence of the chiefs.

Nana Karikari Asante, head of All State Construction Ltd and his legal representatives were also at the Manhyia Palace to sign the agreement.

Baffuor Owusu Amankwatia VI also endorsed the agreement, attracting shouts of joy from the crowd at the palace.

Per the agreement, the KMA would work in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government to ensure that all the demolished buildings of All State Construction Ltd are evaluated.

“It shall liaise with the Ministry of Local Government to secure approval for the demolition of the three properties standing, a copy of the agreement, which DAILY GUIDE has sighted, stated.

“The KMA shall seek the support of Kumasi Traditional Council to get the Ministry of Local Government to issue approval for the demolition structures and payment of compensation”.

All State Construction Ltd owns five buildings at Kejetia Bus Terminal, which is currently under construction to help change the face of Kumasi and enhance economic activities in the city.

Two buildings of the company were demolished by KMA to pave way for the redevelopment of the Kejetia Bus Terminal.

The KMA planned to pull down three additional buildings of the company at Kejetia but All State Construction Ltd vehemently rejected the plan by KMA and secured court injunction, which delayed the Kejetia Bus Terminal project.

All State Construction Ltd indicated that it secured the court injunction to stress the need for the payment of compensation by KMA.

The KTC was dissatisfied with the delay in the execution of the Kejetia Project and intervened to ensure its completion.
