President John Mahama seems to be lacing his boots for the crucial 2016 general election which from all indications, promises to be interesting.
Even though he has already hit the ground running with a subtle campaign under the guise of ‘Accounting to the people’ tour across the country, credible information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicates that President Mahama is now putting together a team to help shape and execute his re-election campaign.
Chief among the names that have popped up so far as likely members of the campaign team of the president and the NDC include that of the party’s National Organiser, Kofi Adams, who is being considered for the position of National Campaign Coordinator. The party and the president appear to have settled on Kofi Adams to water down the friction and confusion relating to who manages the 2016 NDC campaign.
Also high on the cards is the Communications Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah.
Dr Omane Boamah is being considered for the position of Campaign Manager to manage the president’s activities relating to the campaign from the Flagstaff House.
As a Campaign Manager, his role is expected to among others, coordinate the campaign’s operations such as fundraising, advertising, polling, getting out the votes (with direct contact to the public) and other activities supporting the effort, directly.
Apart from the candidate, they are often a campaign’s most visible leaders.
However, indications are that modern campaign managers, particularly at the presidential level, are mostly concerned with executing strategy – not setting it – while the strategists are typically outside political consultants, primarily pollsters and media consultants.
Mr Kofi Adams is likely to coordinate with all required parties for campaign building and delivery, including supervising everyday activities of the party at the national, regional and local levels.
Campaign Coordinators manage all communications with advertisers on all ad specifications; aside that, they are also required to perform strategic analysis and provide an insight on the delivery and management of campaigns whiles assisting the campaigners, agencies, publishers and related internal teams to provide service support for same.
