Ex-President John Kufuor is expected to deliver an inspiring speech during the Amanfoo Global Festival in Kumasi on Saturday, 20th August 2016.
The festival is being organized by old students of Prempeh College, also known as ‘Amanfoo.’
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II would be the special guest of honour at the event.
Former Minister of Finance, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, an old boy of Prempeh College and other prominent people, would also attend the historical event.
They intend to raise a staggering GH¢10 million as an endowment fund to support the development of the school.
The programme is under the theme, ‘The Role of Alumni in Nation Building and Good Governance.’
Mr. Kufuor, who is also as old boy of Prempeh College, is expected to give a thought-provoking speech on good governance.
Wahid Hage, former student of Prempeh College, who is part of the organizing team, said Prempeh old boys across the world would attend the event.
He explained that the funds would be used to support ongoing projects on the campus of the Prempeh College.
Prempeh College currently has a student population of 3,160, Mr. Wahid disclosed, adding that the government alone cannot develop the school.
He stated that former students of the Prempeh College had realized the need to come together to support the school financially.
Thhe 19th Pearson-Osae Appreciation Lecture was recently held at the British Council in Accra as part of the historical programme.
Mr. Wahid disclosed that Amanfoo Street Float was also held in Kumasi last Saturday, adding that the Thanksgiving Service would be held on Sunday at the Prempeh College.
