John Dekyem Attafua h, MD GACL
A BRAND NEW marquee facility will soon be installed at the Kumasi Airport in the Ashanti Region.
The facility, which is a tent, will replace the old one, which has undergone some visible defects due to environmental and other factors.
The replacement of the old facility is part of the effort by the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) to improve facilities and conditions at the airport.
Mr. John Dekyem Attafuah, Managing Director (MD) of GACL, made the disclosure during an interview with scores of journalists in Kumasi.
He had accompanied Aviation Minister – Joseph Ada – to inspect works on the second phase of the Kumasi Airport development project.
He disclosed that the tent-like facility had been procured already and it would be ferried to Kumasi soon.
According to him, the GACL is currently going through the tender processes in order to get the facility fixed at the Kumasi Airport.
Sounding very optimistic, he said hopefully the marquee would be installed at the airport before the end of the year.
According to the MD of the GACL, the tent facility was originally purchased to be fixed at the domestic section at the Kotoka International Airport.
He indicated that because the domestic section at Kotoka had been moved, it became necessary to move the facility to Kumasi Airport.
The GACL MD urged travellers, who use the Kumasi Airport on a daily basis, to be patient as the old tent would be replaced soon.
