Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey
THE ASOKWA Circuit Court in Kumasi has remanded Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey, a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), into police custody over his missing wife, Rhodaline Amoah Darko who is a staff of the Lands Commission in Kumasi.
The accused person, who has been provisionally charged for kidnapping, is expected to re-appear before the court, presided over by Her Worship, Korkor Owusu Achaw, on November 26, 2021.
Dr. Aggrey is reported to have lodged a complaint with the police on September 2, 2021, that his wife was missing from their home located around KNUST.
There were wild speculations that Dr. Aggrey, allegedly, had a hand in the disappearance of his wife, an allegation that forced the police to issue a press release on October 27, 2021, where they said Dr. Aggrey had not been linked with the case.
Just after the supposed kidnapping case, the mobile phone of Rhodaline was said to have been used to send messages to her family, friends and loved ones, allegedly from the supposed kidnappers, who were demanding a ransom.
The police, during investigations, said they gathered that Dr. Aggrey’s phone was also used to report the kidnapping incident to some relatives.
Police said messages from Dr. Aggrey and Rhodaline’s phone were from the same location.
The prosecution team stated that Dr. Aggrey, in his caution statement to the police, admitted that he was forced to send those messages to the family members of his wife by someone called ‘Rukie’, who had threatened to harm his family.
Lawyers of Dr. Aggrey tried their possible best in court on Friday to secure a bail for their client but the court refused their plea, as the accused person was remanded.
Meanwhile, police are yet to determine the whereabouts of Rhodaline.
