Felix Annan
Newly-appointed Asante Kotoko skipper Felix Annan has appealed to the club’s faithful for heavy presence at the Baba Yara Stadium when they host Nigeria’s Kano Pillars this Sunday.
Besides the call for massive fans presence, the shot stopper has asked members of the Porcupine fraternity to throng to the stadium in total red apparels.
Annan believes filling the stands will complement the team’s comprehensive training programme they embarked on since returning from Kano last week.
Kotoko, who at a point in the first leg leading 2-1, managed a 2-3 loss, and have promised to tilt the scale against the visitors to progress to the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
And speaking ahead of the return leg fixture, he said, “We need the fans now than ever. At stages like this, we cannot do without their presence and support. One of the reasons we are feared and revered is because of our huge support base and the fact that we can make the Baba Yara Stadium an uncomfortable place.”
He added, “That is what we want to see on Sunday; the kind of noise that destabilises the opponent. The stadium was packed and also full of noise when we played Kano Pillars in Nigeria. The Sani Abacha Stadium is only 16, 000 capacity, while ours is nearly 40,000. We must paint Baba Yara red, make it noisier to show Kano Pillars that they don’t come close to us in terms of support.”
