President Nana Akufo-Addo
President Nana Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaian entrepreneurs to leverage the trading and investment prospects of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
He made the call on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 while delivering a keynote address at the opening session of the National Conference On the Implementation of AfCFTA.
The two-day conference is being held at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Speaking under the theme for the conference: “Empowering Ghanaian businesses to harness the benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement under the framework of the National Export Development Strategy,” the President urged that empowered Ghanaian entrepreneurs should be the frontline actors of the AfCFTA.
In Ghana, he said, Government has already laid the building blocks for the private sector to harness the benefits of the AfCFTA.
“Government is fully committed to the implementation of the AfCFTA,” he stated.
According to him, AfCFTA provided an enormous potential for trading and investment across the various sectors which Ghanaian and indeed African entrepreneurs can explore.
He expressed the hope that Ghanaian entrepreneurs will take advantage of the vast opportunities presented by AfCFTA.
According to the President, trading under AfCFTA will begin in January 2021.
He stated that AfCFTA will enhance economic growth, and unleash the entrepreneurial dynamism of the African people.
