“My patron, Emos Koblah, is not playing well this year so I said to myself, I have to be there.

“Wanted to win the trophy and this trophy must go to Achimota, so it was always on my mind to win it.

“I did not just get up to win Gold Fields PGA Golf Championship but rather hard work went into this victory so I advise young golfers to take their training seriously and accord their seniors the needed respect.”

He added ”I know it is extremely difficult to defend this Championship but I can assure the next winner that he must be a hard working person to take this glittering trophy from me because l am coming next year to defend it.”

It was Victor Brave Mensah, who dominated the seniors category by scoring 219 gross over three days, while the tournament director, Akwesi Prempeh, came second with SSS 234 for three days.

This year’s edition did not attract golfers from foreign lands due to the Covid-19 pandemic which prevented the defending champion, Christopher Francis, a Nigerian, from participating.
