Chicago-based Ghanaian artiste Richard Essien, popularly known as Magic Rocker, who is also a songwriter and producer, is set to release his second single titled ‘Stop Speaking Vernacular’ for fans to celebrate Christmas.
The artiste, who sings in English, Twi, Ga and Ewe, gained recognition when he announced his presence back in the local music scene with a hit titled ‘Sweet Like Sugar’.
A number of disc jockeys (DJs) who have listened to Magic Rocker’s single opined that given the required promotion, the song could become one of the hit songs on the continent.
The mid tempo song was produced by the dream team made up of Joshua Tetteh (King Jay’s Beat), Jaden Isiah Berkman (Jay the Ziah), Joseph Kojo Sam (Mr Sarge) and Richard Essien (Magic Rocker) for Gavali Music.
‘Stop Speaking Vernacular’ shows Magic Rocker’s versatility as a songwriter and singer, and gives hint as to the diversity of sound and musical styles fans should expect on his upcoming album to be released next year.
The artiste, who relaunched his musical career this year, believes that with his style of music, he would make an impact on Ghana’s music industry again.

According to him, as an artiste, he represents originality, adding that the qualities of his songs are beyond doubt exceptional.
He explained that his motive of doing music is to prove to the world that a Ghanaian artiste can make it to the international stage and become a global icon.
