Mahama Charges GBSA

President Mahama

Out-going Ghana president John Mahama took time off his busy ECOWAS duty in Lagos to call on the Ghana Beach Soccer team at the Eko Hotel & Suites on Sunday.

He interacted with president of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and players of the team, and charged them to put the just-ended tournament (Beach Soccer Nations Cup) behind them and remain focused.

“You guys are doing well, I am told it is a young association but I must commend you for your resilience. Keep pushing till you get there.”

“You have acted as worthy ambassadors although you didn’t realize your dream of playing in the final, I wish you well in subsequent competitions,” said president Mahama.

Association president, Ampofo Ankrah thanked president Mahama for calling on the team and promised to push the sport to the desired heights saying, “We are honoured to have you here and most grateful for your time. It hasn’t been easy but like you pointed out we will keep pushing till we place Ghana up there, we thank you very much sir for your visit.”

Senegal thrashed host, Nigeria 8-4 in the final. Nigeria’s Emeka picked the MVP Award, while Senegal’s Ndiaye finished as the competition’s top scorer with eleven goals.
