A 35-YEAR-OLD man is assisting the Doryumu District Police Headquarters to ascertain why he secretly buried his 3-year-old boy in a forest at Dodowa in the Shai-Osudoku District of Accra.
The suspect, Joshua Osabutey, a lotto writer who reportedly committed the offence last Monday is currently in police custody.
He has been slapped with a provisional charge of hindering of inquest-burying a person without postmortem on the body.
Information gathered by the DAILY GUIDE indicates that the suspect took the child from the mother to stay with him but did not return the child only to discover yesterday that the child has been killed and buried.
Confirming the incident, Superintendent Reuben Dugah, Crime Officer of the Dodowa Divisional Police Headquarters explained to DAILY GUIDE via telephone that the suspect was seen by an informant burying something like human being in an unauthorised place.
Police, he explained that moved in and arrested the suspect who confirmed burying his son who died at a hospital after a short illness.
However, the hospital, according to the Crime Officer has denied that the boy died at the facility, explaining that the boy was brought dead.
Superintendent Dugah mentioned that police is taking steps to secure a court order for the body to be exhumed in order to ascertain what actually caused the death of the boy.
He nevertheless, mentioned that the suspect would be arraigned before court whiles investigation into the matter continued.
Meanwhile, Rose Narkitey, mother of the deceased who happens to be ex-wife of the suspect told DAILY GUIDE that “The suspect somewhere this year forcibly came for the boy under the pretext of being sent to a boarding school.”
According to her, the suspect had since then refused her every opportunity to see her son until news got her that the boy had reportedly been killed by the father.
