Agyaba, one of the opinion leaders at Ash Town, cutting the tape to open the project as Napo looks on
The Manhyia South Constituency is set to benefit from three different modern Astro Turf facilities soon to help promote sporting activities, especially football.
One of the Astro Turfs has already been completed at the famous Abbey’s Park, which is located at Ash Town, which is the heart of the constituency.
The two other Astro Turf projects, whose construction works would start soon, would be located at the Konadu Yiadom School and Dichemso.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo), the Manhyia South lawmaker, made the announcement during the opening of the Abbey’s Park project on Sunday morning.
As part of the programme, a football gala was played among the six electoral areas in the constituency. A trophy and other prizes were at stake.
Napo said the constituency has a lot of football talents, so as the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area, he thought it wise to invest in sporting facilities to help produce football stars.
The Abbey’s Park facility, a brainchild of Napo, boasts of an Astro Turf, an open gym, children’s playing ground, flood lights, stands for spectators, among other amenities.
Napo, who is passionate about the transformation of Manhyia South Constituency, admonished residents of Ash Town to uphold a high maintenance culture.
He also announced that Seth Twumasi, a former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player and an executive of the NPP in the constituency, would chair a committee to manage the park.
