PKO Boxing and the PKO Foundation have named two-time world champion Marvellous Nana Yaw Konadu as their new President, marking a major leadership change within the organisation.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was decided more than a week ago but officially confirmed after the successful completion of due diligence and compliance procedures.

Konadu’s selection followed a thorough assessment process and received unanimous backing from the Board of Directors and key stakeholders.

Widely celebrated as one of Ghana’s finest professional boxers, Konadu was born in Sunyani in 1964 and enjoyed a glittering career in the ring. He amassed 41 wins, five defeats and one draw, with an impressive 32 of his victories coming by knockout.

His rise to global prominence began in 1989 when he captured the WBC super flyweight title, before going on to clinch the WBA bantamweight crown twice in the mid-1990s.

His exploits significantly boosted Ghana’s profile on the international boxing stage and earned him enduring respect among fans and peers alike.

In announcing his appointment, PKO highlighted Konadu’s character and leadership as key factors behind the decision.

The organisation described him as a symbol of humility, hard work, transparency and trustworthiness, adding that his leadership brings renewed hope to boxers and aligns strongly with PKO’s mission to safeguard athletes, uphold integrity and nurture future world champions

PKO reaffirmed that the welfare and development of boxers remain central to its vision, while also paying tribute to former interim Honorary President Joseph Agbeko for his role during the organisation’s formative period. The group thanked Agbeko for his service while the company was being structured and formally established.
