Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey in an address endorsed the Miss Ghana pageant and encouraged civil society and corporate bodies to firmly support the initiative.

According to him, the pageant is very important not only because it promotes Ghana’s rich culture but it also helps improve the socio-economic needs of the people by way of creating jobs.

“Years ago some of us felt that it was for fronting of beauty and so some of us went on the radio and said all sorts of things about beauty pageants and why they should not get sponsorships and all of that. But growing up we now know that especially after watching the documentary, people have been groomed through beauty pageants. They had some coaching, they had some publicity. Some have become stars overnight. It nurtured talents. The pageant has given some of these people networks. Out of a beauty pageant, you get to meet a lot of people and you must take advantage of the people you meet. It promotes culture. It projects our music, fashion, entertainment and it’s created jobs for people. I wouldn’t want to mention names but some of the media people you see today as morning show hosts and entertainment show hosts, some of them came from Miss Ghana,” he indicated.

Inna Patty, CEO of Exclusive Events Ghana organisers of the pageant thanked everyone who has helped the pageant come this far.

She said this year also marks a decade since her company took over the organisation of the pageant.

They are grateful for all the support, adding that the pageant “will continue to contribute, socio-economically to our national development and beyond.”

She noted that the Miss Ghana organisation would host a big audition in Accra on April 2, 2022 at the Tang Palace Hotel to select wannabe queens. The Miss Ghana main event, she indicated is expected to come off July 2022.
