THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, says the Covid-19 pandemic has not been totally defeated yet.
In this regard, he has admonished the public to continue to strictly adhere to all the health protocols as suggested by health professionals, in order to protect them from the dangerous virus.
“Covid-19 is still with us, so I am passionately appealing to all-and-sundry to continue to wear your face mask, wash your hands with soap and running water and the other protocols needed to stem the tide. This is the only means that we can protect ourselves from the disease because the country needs us alive to work towards its development,” the MP who doubles as Minister of Energy said whilst addressing the NPP members in his constituency during this year’s annual Delegates Conference of the party last Sunday.
The event, which was held under strict Covid-19 protocols, was attended by polling station and constituency executives in the area, as well as other NPP bigwigs in the Ashanti Region.
Napo, who is a medical doctor, said earlier reports that Covid-19 doesn’t affect minors was a hoax, stressing that the deadly virus doesn’t discriminate against sex, age or social status.
“Everybody is at risk now, the virus can affect you regardless of your social status, therefore, it is important that we support government’s efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
According to him, mass gatherings, unnecessary movements in public and all other behaviours that would expose people to the dangerous virus should be avoided at all cost.
Napo stated that, the country is depending heavily on its human resource base to ensure its effective development, stressing that the public should also play a role to help defeat the virus.
