MTN Accra Newtown Salafest Moves Crowd

MTN Ghana, in collaboration with the National Council of Zongo Queen Mothers (Magajiyoyi), with support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts held the 2025 Accra Newtown Salafest last Tuesday, climaxing the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

The event provided a platform to promote Islamic values such as unity, compassion, and generosity.

The street carnival witnessed the convergence of sub-chiefs across the Muslim community in Accra Newtown under one roof to celebrate the festivities and make meaningful decisions to promote peace and development.

The Chief of Accra New Town Kotokoli Community, Wuru Abdul Razak Sulaiman Kuuku II, called on his people to live harmoniously for the good of the country. He further called on the government to create various avenues that will employ more youth in the area.

Ahead of the Salafest, MTN Ghana donated GH¢20,000 and other items to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, in support of the 2025 Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

Other items donated included 30 bags of rice, 20 cartons of vegetable oil, 40 packs of mineral water, 10 cartons of canned drinks, and 20 packs of assorted soft drinks.
Speaking at the donation exercise at the Chief Imam’s residence, the Chief Digital Officer at MTN Ghana, Ibrahim Mitso, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support the Muslim community during the festive period.
“I am honoured to be here with my colleagues to extend our warmest greetings to your Eminence and the entire Muslim community as we approach the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“We recognise and appreciate the sacrifices made during this holy month and the values of generosity, compassion, and peace that it upholds—values that resonate with the MTN brand,” he said.
Ibrahim Mitso also revealed that similar donations would be extended to the Regional Chief Imams in the Ashanti, Western, and Northern regions.
