MTN Puts Up 24-Unit Classroom Block For Depot

An ultra modern 24-unit classroom block  project has been built for pupils of Police Depot Cluster of schools at Tesano in Accra.

The GH¢3.4 million school facility undertaken by MTN Ghana, through its foundation, has a Nursery and Kindergarten, a Primary School Department, and a Junior High School Department.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, MTN Ghana Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, said his outfit was proud to give the beautiful edifice to the police and hope the investment will yield results.

He said the school dates back to the colonial-era but its blocks had not seen any major developments, leaving pupils to study in an unsafe environment and in overcrowded classrooms.

The Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who was the special guest, in an address described the latest intervention by MTN Ghana Foundation as an investment into the future of the youth.

She said the goal of the investment by the MTN Foundation ties in beautifully with the educational objectives of President Akufo-Addo’s government and will go a long way to help pupils that will have the privilege to study in the facility.

Commissioner of Police (COP) George Alex Mensah, Director General, Technical, who represented the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, in an address praised MTN Ghana for putting up an edifice that will relocate school children to a safe environment.

“I’m extremely happy to represent my boss on this occasion because it has always been my wish to see these kids relocated to a much safer place and I thank you MTN for that,” COP Mensah said.

He said the training activities of the Formed Police Unit (FPU), compelled the Police Administration to relocate the school from where it was to the current compound.
