Navrongo (Upper East), yesterday had its share of the ground breaking for the multipurpose youth sports centre of excellence.
It was the penultimate sod cutting exercise dotted across the nation after Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Western, Ashanti, Central, Brong Ahafo, Upper West and Upper East.
Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah in his address said “The youth deserve this facility across the nation that is why President Akufo-Addo has tasked me to ensure that these projects are constructed.
“This is more than a stadium. I want to see stars emerge from Navrongo from this facility. This investment is to ensure that we secure a better future for the youth.”
Upper East Regional Minister, Bukari A. Rockson urged the youth to make good use of the yet-to- be-constructed facility to realize their individual potentials.
The almost ¢7m facility, expected to be completed in nine months will house a FIFA standard five thousand sitting-capacity football pitch, eight lane athletics lane, ICT/Entrepreneurship, Career Centres, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, a modern restaurant, washrooms, maintenance unit and floodlights.
The Minister is expected to break the ground for Yendi’s today.
