Prof. Esi Sutherland-Addy
A three-day programme dubbed ‘Museum Conversations’ will on Monday, November 26 open at the National Museum in Accra.
Organised by Goethe-Institut Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB), the conversations, among others, will centre on a variety of challenges and issues that confront museums in recent times.
Topics slated for the three-day event, which is being coordinated by Ato Annan, Director of Foundation for Contemporary Art Ghana, include ‘Revisiting the Mandate: National Museum of Ghana in the 21st Century’ and ‘Improbable Prospects: ‘Universal” Museums and the case of repatriation’, among others.
Presenters and panelists include Kingsley Ofosu Ntiamoah (Acting Director, GMMB), Dr. Patrick Emery Effiboley (University of Abomey Calavi, Benin), Prof. Benjamin Kankpeyegn, Prof. Esi Sutherland-Addy, Prof. John Collins, Prof. Kodzo Gavua and Dr. Aba Eyifa-Dziedzienyo – all from the University of Ghana, Legon.
Others are Fritz Baffour (communications consultant and former board chairman of GMMB), William Nsuiban Gmayi (PRO, GMMB), Paa K. Holdbrooke-Smith (cultural entrepreneur), Allotey Bruce Konuah (communications design consultant) and Moses Adjetey Adjei (Ghana Broadcasting Corporation).
Goethe-Institut Ghana is supporting the event which ends on Wednesday, November 28.
