Bessa Simons, MUSIGA Vice President
This year’s edition of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Grand Ball is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 29 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
MUSIGA Grand Ball, which has enjoyed high patronage in the past, will be attended this year by music industry players, government representatives, traditional rulers, event organisers, among others.
The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) which supports musicians who are 60 years and above, incapacitated or dead with surviving relatives.
Artistes lined up to perform include Nana Kwame Ampadu, Bessa Simons, Tagoe Sisters, Rev. Yawson, Pat Thomas and a host of others.
As part of this year’s event, there will be an auctioning of special collections of musical works by some of the veteran musicians.
A number of individuals and institutions will be honoured at this year’s event for their unflinching support for the development of the creative arts in Ghana and the music industry in particular.
President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour, pointed out that the ball is aimed at giving “the business community a chance to get entertained, and also to raise some money for the music industry in Ghana.”
MUSIGA Grand Ball is an initiative of MUSIGA, in support of AMWeF and other projects of the union. It will also offers huge networking opportunities to participants.
