THE NEWLY installed Ya-Na of Dagbon Kingdom, Mahama Abukari II has cleared the air indicating that the brand new Jaguar given to him at his coronation on Friday, January 25, 2019, was from his close friend.
His assertion is contrary to earlier media reports that the ‘classic’ customised car was gifted to him by President Akufo-Addo, who together with several other politicians, attended the ceremony held at the Gbewaa Palace, in Yendi.
News monitored on TV3 claimed that the Ya-Na in an interview debunked the report that the Jaguar was presented to him following a request he made to the President.
The Ya-Na is reported to have said he received the car with a surprise, expressing his excitement over the support ruling out the state from dashing him the car.
President Akufo-Addo was highly instrumental in restoring peace to Dagbon after 17-years of conflict in the area.
His commitment to ensuring that peace returned to the area led to the enskinment of the new Ya-Na who happens to be the 42nd Ya-Na in the history of the Dagbon State.
