Chief Executive Officer of Nations Football Club, Kennedy Boakye-Ansah, has offered a detailed defence of the club’s current struggles in the Ghana Premier League, describing them as a necessary phase in a long-term rebuilding process.

Speaking on Guide Sports Xtra on Guide Radio 91.5 FM hosted by Ben Osei Bonsu, Boakye-Ansah explained that Nations FC deliberately altered its recruitment policy at the start of the season, shifting focus from experienced players to younger talents sourced mainly from the lower divisions.

According to him, the decision was informed by the club’s broader vision of sustainability rather than short-term success.

Boakye-Ansah recalled that in their early seasons in the Premier League, the club prioritised survival by blending youth with seasoned players who had extensive top-flight experience.

That approach, he said, helped Nations FC stabilise and avoid the immediate relegation that often affects newly promoted sides. However, he noted that relying heavily on older players is not sustainable in the long run.

Boakye-Ansah admitted that the youthful squad has struggled to adapt quickly to the physical and tactical demands of the Premier League, leading to inconsistent results.

Nevertheless, he insisted that patience is required, stressing that young players need time to mature and gain confidence at the highest level.

He revealed that since the appointment of a new technical direction, there has been noticeable improvement in performances, even if results have not always reflected dominance on the pitch.

Boakye-Ansah expressed belief that the team can still push for a respectable league finish and remain competitive in the FA Cup.
