Kafui Danku
Actress Kafui Danku has urged women never to consider abortion as their solution to pregnancies that occur out of wedlock.
She advised they should feel free and have their babies without fear of being judged by people who “claim high moral grounds” in society.
Judgement, she opined, is exclusively preserved for God and not any other human being.
The beautiful actress stated that women who give birth out of wedlock should, therefore, let God be their ultimate judge.
Kafui was speaking through her new book, ‘Silence Is Not Golden’, which was launched at the Unique Floral Centre at Trade Fair in Accra on Sunday.
“Before tying the nuptial knot, I was intimate with him (husband) and got pregnant – something we never felt bad about. The news of my pregnancy was welcomed and greeted with joy and celebration. It is quite unfortunate when some people claim high the moral ground in condemning those who conceive before wedlock. If the Creator’s injunction in the Good Book against judging others is anything to go by, then I think we all must learn that judgement is God’s exclusive preserve,” Kafui revealed in her book.
“There are great people the world over today who were born out outside of wedlock and there are miserable people today who were born to parents who married as virgins. Definitions, determinations and the future belong to God. It is an act of wisdom to desist from defining people based on what you see about them today,” she added.
According to her, if there is any woman out there who did abortion because of wedlock, she should seek God’s forgiveness and should never repeat that.
‘Silence Is Not Golden’ was launched on Sunday, with a call on women to speak up in society. The book covers Kafui’s many years of painful experiences written to inspire and encourage others. It also echoes the often-overlooked cry of many women, capturing the frustrations of her friends and their families.
The book is coming at a time when Counsellor George Lutterodt is verbally abusing some women in the showbiz industry for their decision to have babies out of wedlock.
“My main objective for doing this work is to launch a crusade for the woman who is yet to hear the first cry of her baby,” Kafui said in the introductory part of the book.
Sunday’s launch was attended by a number of dignitaries and showbiz personalities such as Nana Ama McBrown, Inna Patty, DKB, Stonebwoy, among others, with Kafui Dey as the MC.
