COP (rtd) Frank Adu-Poku presenting an award to Mark Effah, Overall Best Personnel
Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), COP (Rtd) Frank Adu-Poku, has called on law enforcement agencies to collaborate with his outfit to fight crime in the country.
He said the threat by criminals through their wicked activities in Ghana cannot be ignored.
“It’s imperative that law enforcement agencies collaborate and continuously build the capacity of their personnel for them to be efficient, effective and ready to deal with these criminals.”
COP (Rtd) Adu-Poku disclosed this at the closing ceremony of an eight-week intensive detective training course organised for selected personnel of the various security services at the Tesano Detective Training Academy.
The personnel were drawn from the Ghana Police Service, Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), EOCO and the Narcotics Control Board.
The 86 participants were taken through topics such as criminal law and procedure, law of evidence, criminal investigation, cyber crime, documents and identity fraud, intelligence gathering, crime scene management, child friendly policing and anti-human trafficking, among others.
The EOCO boss commended the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwa Addo Danquah, for inviting other sister securities agencies to be part of the course.
“I believe the skills and competences that participants have acquired through this course, as well as the network they have established among themselves will go a long way to effectively assist them to combat criminal activities in our country.”
Commandant of the Detective Training Academy, Chief Superintendent Benjamin Affisah, in an address, said personnel were taught by seasoned resource persons, both serving and retired senior police officers, as well as people from the bench and bar.
He revealed that they focused on mobile money fraud and financial crime investigation for four days.
Chief Superintendent Affisah entreated personnel to be good ambassadors of their respective organizations and lift the image of their organizations wherever they find themselves.
The Overall Best Personnel Award went to Mark Effah.
Also present were the deputy-director general of the CID, ACP George Tweneboah; ACP Joseph Oklu-Gyamerah, director in charge of operations CID and director in charge of crime scene, Chief Superintendent Raymond Simpi, among others.
