NextGen Infraco CEO Found – Police

Tony Mintah

The Ghana Police Service has announced that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NextGen InfraCo, Tony Mintah, who was reported missing yesterday, has been found.

This information was shared in a police statement issued on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. While police remain tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding the CEO’s brief disappearance and the individuals involved, they have assured the public that further details regarding his rescue will be provided in subsequent briefings.

Earlier, the police reported that Mr. Mintah was taken from the premises of the National Communications Authority (NCA) by unidentified individuals. This prompted a search by law enforcement to determine his whereabouts, while urging Ghanaians to report any relevant information to authorities.

The police reiterated their commitment to keeping the public informed as new information becomes available.

NextGen InfraCo is the Ghanaian company awarded the contract to implement the country’s upgrade to the 5G spectrum. In June 2024, the Government of Ghana, in collaboration with Ascend Digital, K-NET, Radisys, Nokia, and Tech Mahindra, alongside all mobile network operators including AirtelTigo and Telecel, launched the NextGen InfraCo (NGIC) initiative aimed at delivering affordable 5G mobile broadband services.

This partnership aims to enhance the lives of Ghanaians by introducing digital services in education, healthcare, and digital payment transactions through peer-to-peer (P2P), peer-to-merchant (P2M), and merchant-to-merchant (M2M) systems. The initiative is expected to reduce the digital divide and promote financial inclusion.
