Neymar and Cavani
Neymar has admitted to ‘certain tension’ between him and Edinson Cavani earlier this season.
The world-record signing appeared to rub Cavani off the wrong way following his high-profile arrival at the Parc des Princes, as the pair was caught in a squabble over penalty taking duties.
Their public row – that occurred for the second time in November – over a spot kick was widely covered in the press and Neymar has revealed that incident did cause some friction between him and Cavani.
“It was made to sound bigger than it really was,” he said on TV Globo’s show- Altas Horas.
“Of course there was a certain tension, friction with Cavani, but we resolved it quickly. Three days after it happened, we all sat down and we talked. We’re two great players, but we’re also people and we had to resolve the personal side of things.”
It was a feud that saw many questions arise around PSG, with many reporting Cavani could leave the French giants following the row.
“The reports which came out were much bigger, I think because that’s what sells people oversell the stories, talk about things they shouldn’t.”
Neymar has been ruled out of the rest of Paris Saint-Germain’s season after suffering a fracture in his foot against Marseille in February.
He had surgery on his fifth metatarsal last month and revealed on the show that he is due to return for Brazil before the start of this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
