National Film Authority (NFA), the body with the responsibility to turn around the film industry for economic development, will hold a two-day workshop as part of efforts to revamp the film industry.
This will take place at the Multichoice Ghana Limited in Accra from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day on Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30, 2020.
There will be conversations around understanding the business of film and also on pitch clinic, which is individual project reviews. Among the speakers will be ‘Things We Do For Love’ director, Ivan Quashigah, Jonathan Cudjoe, a lawyer and copyright consultant, among others.
The workshop is part of pitch series, a film-related pitching programme put together by the NFA to bring filmmakers and the Ghanaian film ecosystem to the attention of investors, broadcasters, distributors, sponsors and platforms around the world for potential collaborations, sponsorships, investments, sales and advertising opportunities.
Out of 100 submissions received by the pitch programme, a total of 25 projects have been selected for the next stage of the series.
The next stage of the project will take the selected filmmakers through the two-day workshop with the goal of closing knowledge gaps and providing the tools needed to pitch successfully to investors, distributors, broadcasters and platforms. The workshop will stream live on www.nfa.gov.gh.
“As a key part of its strategy, the NFA is working to revamp the production landscape of Ghana in its overall strategy to position Ghana as a film hub,” the NFA said in a statement on Monday.
The NFA pitch series is a pipeline, down-the-value-chain facilitation project aimed at connecting projects within the Ghanaian film ecosystem to engage investors, broadcasters, distributors and sponsors.
Collaborators on the project include the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Multichoice Ghana Limited and the Multichoice Talent Factory.
