A leading institution in the construction industry, Nickseth Construction Company Limited, has donated GH¢10,000 towards the holding of this year’s Construction Excellence Awards in Accra.
The awards ceremony, which is to honour professionals who have excelled in the industry for the past 20 years, is being organized by the Ghana Institute of Construction (GIOC).
President of GIOC, Prof. Joshua Ayakwa of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), said this year’s edition would recognize firms, contractors and individuals that have contributed to the development of the industry.
“The event would not glorify mediocrity by players in the construction industry so as to promote quality and excellence in the country,” he said.
Charles Essel, Technical Director of Nickseth Construction, said the donation was to encourage development and research in the construction industry.
He said Ghana’s construction industry is not technologically advanced and such support from corporate organizations would go a long way to help promote quality and excellence.
“It’s our policy to support research institutions like Ghana Institute of Construction to help improve the sector for the benefit of Ghanaians,” Mr. Essel indicated.
