Odo Broni, the wife of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has delivered a deeply emotional tribute, declaring that no falsehood or negative narrative can erase the love she shared with her husband.
Speaking through a tribute read on her behalf during her late husband’s final funeral, Odo Broni, known privately as Priscilla Ofori, reflected on the honour, dignity and happiness the music icon brought into her life. She described their bond as a living truth that stands firm against criticism and hostility.
“My king, my protector, if your spirit still walks among us, then let the truth itself be our defence. Let the love we shared be the flame that burns away every lie,” she said, adding that the dignity and peace Daddy Lumba gave her would forever speak louder than “every cruel tongue”.
Odo Broni made it clear she would not allow bitterness or public negativity to taint her memories of their life together.
“I will not give in to their malice, and I will not allow their venom to stain what we shared. You treated me like a queen. You gave me a family and you gave me joy. That truth will live on and outlast every lie,” she stated.
Despite his passing, she said Daddy Lumba’s presence remains deeply rooted in her heart, insisting that attempts to undermine their relationship cannot change her truth.
“Though some try to hurt me, they cannot erase the truth that I was your joy, your peace, and your chosen home. Even though you have left this world, you live on in my heart,” she told mourners.
She concluded with a powerful declaration that love, once genuine, remains untouched by loss or adversity.
“Even as I walk this path alone now, I will walk with the memory of your love. No lie, no attack, no cruelty can ever erase it. The lion king still reigns in spirit, and his roar will always guard the love we shared,” she said.
Daddy Lumba, one of Ghana’s most celebrated Highlife musicians, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital.
