Nominees For 2022 3Music Awards Unveiled

 

The 3Media Networks, organisers of the annual 3Music Awards have officially launched the 5th edition of the awards.

The launch, which was held virtually last Friday in Accra and aired on Facebook and YouTube on 3Music Awards page, was used to unveil the full list of nominees.

It was hosted by MzGee and Jay Foley.

The 3Music Awards is a Ghanaian music awards programme held annually to celebrate Ghanaian and African music.

The awards scheme has gained credence over the years for progressive innovation and groundbreaking entertainment value since its first launch in 2018. Its revolutionary 2020 edition was well recounted in Ghana and beyond both for its concepts and outstanding television content.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of 3Music Networks, Sadiq Abdulai, this year’s edition will honour outstanding acts and producers who have worked hard to support the music industry.

“This year there will be more segments, more awards, more inclusivity, and wider reach. We are putting the spotlight both on music and all other auxiliaries which facilitate and enable the success of the art. This year’s awards [show] is more comprehensive. It is more than music,” Sadiq Abdulai revealed.

On top of the list is celebrated rapper Sarkodie leading the pack with 12 nominations including the Best Collaboration of the Year, Viral Song of the Year, Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Rapper of the Year categories among others.

Renowned reggae artiste Stonebwoy follows with 9, Black Sherif – 6, D-Black – 5 nominations in categories such as Reggae Dancehall Act/Song of the Year, Performer of the Year, Afrobeats/Afro-pop Song of the Year, Digital Act of the Year, and Fan Army of the Year.

Artistes including Celestine Donkor, Black Sheriff, D-Black, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Mr. Drew, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Gyakie secured nominations in the Artiste of the Year category.

Other nominees include Yaw Tog, Strongman, Kofi Jamar, Mona 4Reall, DJ Faculty, Camidoh, Empress Gifty, Kweku Darlington, Malcolm Nuna, and Obaapa Christy.

In an earlier development, a press release signed by Sadiq Abdulai stated that the 5th annual 3Music Awards will champion the inclusion of the marginalised, especially women.

The Women’s Brunch segment of the show is dedicated to this purpose. This year’s Women’s Brunch will be held on March 6 with a big reveal of the Top 50 Women in Music (Africa). A week later, the first Fan Festival segment premieres on March 12. The Fan Festival is a celebration carnival that pitches nominees with the fans in a setting of lifestyle, food, fashion, and live entertainment.
