Norwegian Ambassador to Ghana, Gunnar Andreas Holm, has paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Osu Nii Okwi Kinka Dowuona VI.

The visit by the Norwegian envoy and his entourage to the Osu Mantse Palace on Tuesday, April 24th, this year, was to promote culture and potentials in Ghana and Norway that are yet to be exploited.

Addressing his guests, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, revealed that his main priority is to educate all the children in Osu and beyond.

He explained that “I have formed an educational committee to steer the affairs of this community to make the dream a reality.”

The traditional leader indicated that “I have also introduced various award schemes to entice and encourage the young people to embrace my educational policies which includes technical, vocational training and artisanship.”

Touching on tourism, he said tourism can be a powerful tool to transform an entire community by creating jobs and several opportunities for development.

He said, “I had a meeting with the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and other stakeholders to incorporate an antique museum.”

Nii Kinka also called for concerted efforts from the stools, embassies and the government to ensure accelerated development.

The Paramount Chief said that he was very happy with the visit because of the historical ties between the people of Osu and Norway.

Osu lands, which are prime in the country, host the seat of government, several state institutions, prominent businesses and historical sites, including the Christianborg Castle and Usher Fort.

The envoy, in a brief statement, reiterated that the visit would deepen relations between Ghana and Norway which spans over 250 years.

He expressed his gratitude to the Paramount Chief and the traditional council for the warm reception and called for improved collaboration in future.
