The leadership of the party would be coordinating with all Constituency Executive Committees through the Regional Executive Committees to streamline the verification of each constituency album.
In view of the above, the General Secretary would from Wednesday, May 10, 2023, make available to each constituency, its album with an attached document for the verification process.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong said “Accordingly, a Verification Exercise Committee shall be constituted to supervise the process in each constituency. The composition of the Committee shall be as follows;
“Chairperson of the Constituency Council of Elders –Constituency Chairperson, the Member of Parliament for the Constituency if any/Representative Constituency Secretary, Organiser, Constituency Information Technology Coordinator/Officer.
“The Committee is instructed to collaborate and meticulously scrutinise the album to ensure transparency for this all important exercise.”
The Committee has until May 26, 2023, to complete the verification process and submit it to the Regional Executive Committee by May 31, 2023.
“You are further advised to send all petitions if any, to the Regional Executive Committee. The Regional Executive Committees are to submit the albums and their findings to the office of the General Secretary by June 23, 2023,” the statement read.
The verification exercise is aimed at ensuring that all names on the constituency albums are genuine and that they meet the requirements of the party’s constitution. He also stated that the party is committed to ensuring that the primaries are conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.
The statement further indicated that the verification exercise would be conducted by a team of officials appointed by the Regional Executive Committees in collaboration with the Constituency Executive Committees. The team would be responsible for verifying the names, addresses, and other details of all registered members of the party in each constituency.
The NPP has urged all members of the party to cooperate with the verification team to ensure a smooth exercise.
The party has also assured its members that the exercise would be conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution and the laws of the land.
The NPP is preparing for its primaries ahead of the 2024 general elections. The party is expected to elect its parliamentary candidates for all constituencies across the country in the coming months. The verification exercise is expected to help the party to weed out any ineligible voters and ensure that only genuine members of the party participate in the primaries.
