Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have presented items worth thousands of cedis and an undisclosed amount to the Tema Traditional Council.
The items included bags of maize, bags of rice, gallons of oil, cartons of gin, Schnapps, crates of beer, non-alcoholic beverages, cartons of bottled mineral water, motorbikes, among others, for the celebration of the annual festival.
The donation formed part of the political party’s annual support for the people of the Ga State during the Homowo festivities, and donation to the Tema Traditional Council is one of such kind gestures.
Presenting the items, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, wife of the NPP flagbearer, mentioned that chiefs remain key stakeholders in the development of the Ga State and the country at large and merit the support of the NPP.
She added that the significant of chiefs in nation building cannot be underestimated, hence the need to reach out to them in the discharge of their traditional duties.
Mrs Akufo-Addo urged the chiefs to continue their good works, assuring them of the party’s fairness in supporting traditional councils in the country.
She reiterated NPP’s commitment to the development of the Ga Mashie area in particular and the country at large when given the power in the forthcoming general elections.
Receiving the items, Nii Adjei Krakue I, Tema Mantse, who received the items on behalf of the traditional council, thanked them for the kind gesture and prayed for God’s guidance in all their endeavours prior and after the 2016 general elections.
The delegation was led by the Greater Accra NPP Chairman, Ishmael Ashitey, and Evans Ashong Narh, former MP for Tema East and former MCE for Tema.
Also in attendance were all the parliamentary candidates of the NPP in the Tema Metropolis.
