The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is rallying around its presidential candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, following the party’s historic defeat in the 2024 elections.
In a show of solidarity, prominent leaders of the NPP in the Ashanti Region, including Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi) and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo), Bawumia’s running mate, met with the Vice President to offer words of encouragement and comfort.
Chairman Wontumi, in a heartfelt address, urged Dr. Bawumia and party members to draw strength from their faith, emphasizing the importance of accepting both triumphs and setbacks as part of God’s plan.
“This is the will of God, he knows why this happened. We can’t fight him, we can’t do anything. We know that at the right time he would make us happy for the sake of you and your running mate,” Chairman Wontumi said.
The meeting, which was captured on video and has gained traction online, showed the emotional reactions of key figures as they consoled Dr. Bawumia.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, also spoke during the meeting, acknowledging the deep pain and disappointment felt by the party following the electoral loss.
