NPP Mourns With Free Zones Boss

Thousands of mourners, including members of the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), converged on Jackson’s Park in Koforidua in the Eastern Regional capital on Saturday to mourn the death of Opanin Daniel Otchere, the father of Michel Okyere-Baafi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Free Zones Board.

Stalwarts of the NPP such as the acting National Chairman, Freddie Blay, acting General Secretary, John Boadu, Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku, the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, Nana Asante Bediatu, Executive Secretary to the President, as well as Chairman of the Council of State, Nana Otuo Siriboe, were in attendance.

Kenpong, Coach Akwasi Appiah, Kwadwo Nkansah also took part in the event.

Mr Micheal Okyere-Baafi, in his tribute, said his father showed enormous love to his children, adding that he guided them to lead principled lives.

The late Opanin Daniel Otchere, also known as Kwabena Kru, whose mortal remains were laid to rest over the weekend, was born on July 13, 1934.

On October 6, 2017, he was rushed to the Koforidua Regional Hospital and passed away at dawn on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

He left behind nine children.
