Abankwah-Yeboah congratulating Fati Vondolie on her victory
George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah, National Treasurer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that the government will stay in power for a minimum of 32 years to ensure total development of Ghana.
According to him, this dream cannot come true if the party does not unite.
The national treasurer, who made these assertions when addressing the Eastern Regional delegates’ conference over the weekend, noted that evidence abounds that the NPP is the only political party with the human resources, the right policies and the will power to drastically transform Ghana.
Mr. Yeboah, who is seeking re-election, pleaded with the rank and file of the party to unite, burry all their differences and work together in the interest of the country.
At the end of the polls to elect officers to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years, six candidates went unopposed. They are the incumbent Chairman, Secretary, Organiser, Youth Organizer, Treasurer and Deputy Secretary; they were consequently sworn in.
Alhaji Umar Bodinga, the incumbent 1st Vice Chairman, retained his position. Fati Vondolie, Acting Regional Women’s Organizer, was elected the substantive Women’s Organizer.
For the 2nd Vice Chairman slot, Richard Twum Barimah was overwhelmingly elected, and Hussein Mohammed Fadilu was elected the party’s Regional Nasara Coordinator.
The newly elected Eastern Regional Secretary of the party, Jeff Konadu Addo, was grateful to his brother, Buckman Akuffo for his earlier decision to step down before the electoral process began.
Jeff encouraged other aspirants who couldn’t sail through to keep the fire burning.
After he had been sworn in, Mr Konadu gave the assurance that he, with the help of the other executives, would work relentlessly in the ‘orphan’ constituencies to win more seats for the NPP in the region.
