Edmund Kyei
Edmund Kyei, the Asokwa Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), insists the Akufo-Addo administration will ensure the stability of the country’s currency- the Cedi.
He said President Akufo-Addo and his vice Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia would effectively shore up the weak Ghanaian currency that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) left behind.
Mr. Kyei therefore appealed to the citizenry to offer their unflinching support to the NPP administration to fulfill its numerous promises to Ghanaians.
He said the knowledgeable and experienced Dr. Mawumia would team up with the Economic Team of the NPP to strength the Cedi as major foreign currencies.
Mr. Kyei’s comments come in the wake of gains made by the local currency against the US Dollar in recent times.
“The significant dollar fall in just two days is a sign of good things to come.”
He stated that President Akufo-Addo’s assertion that his administration would revive the weak Ghana currency was not meant to deceive Ghanaians.
Cedi Fall
The Ghana Cedi depreciated significantly against major foreign currencies during the tenure of the NDC.
Financial analysts predicted that it would take a major intervention by government to help shore up the Cedi after the 2016 general elections.
Promise Fulfilled
The NPP Communications Director for Asokwa Constituency in Kumasi urged the citizenry to exercise restraint, stressing that the Ghana cedi would continue to make gains against major currencies in the coming weeks.
There would be a boom in the country very soon to bring relief to the ordinary Ghanaian who suffered under the NDC administration, he added.
