Obour
Former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour, aka Obour, who is an aspirant in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Asante Akyem South Constituency, has said he is optimistic of a win.
“I think I am winning because I have what it takes to win and I know I can do the job,” Obour said boldly.
He is one of four contestants seeking to oust the incumbent MP, Mr. Kwaku Asante Boateng, who is pursuing a third term bid.
Other contestants are Mr Edmund Oppong Peprah, Mr Eric Amofa and Mr William Yamoah.
Ever since Obour declared his intention to contest the NPP parliamentary primaries, some political figures, including Kwabena Boateng Asante, popularly known as KB, have backed him.
The musician, who is on a mission to develop Asante Akyem South, said when elected as NPP parliamentary candidate “I am going to mobilize the grassroots and prove to them why each of them must turn up on December 7 to vote for the NPP.”
He said he would look beyond party delegates in promoting the welfare of members by establishing a welfare fund to improve the lives of the people who sacrificed for the growth of the party.
The Konkontibaa hitmaker promised the people of Asante-Akim South of transparent and accountable leadership as well as mobilizing resources for infrastructural development in the areas of health, education and sanitation.
According to him, jobs for the youth and women would be one of his topmost priorities, adding that investment in agriculture and agro-processing would also receive attention when he becomes the MP.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s morning programme, Kokrokoo, Obour told the host, Kwami Sefa Kayi, that he was absolutely certain of his victory in the primaries.
He explained that before he disclosed his interest in contesting the Asante Akyem South parliamentary seat, he had already been behind the scenes working with party delegates to improve the livelihood of the residents in the community.
He noted that he had built a strong relationship, cemented on goodwill, with the delegates and expressed confidence in his delegates describing them as trustworthy.
He strongly believes they will vote massively for him during the party’s primaries.
