Eugen Ofosu Ayeh
If there is a striker who has stamped his authority in the German fourth-tier side Sprockhovel Essen then, it is Eugen Ofosu Ayeh, junior brother of Phil Ofosu Ayeh.
And to say he is riped for the Black Stars striking role is an understatement, considering his striking prodigy and his ability to take on defenders regardless of the circumstance.
Students of the game have tipped him as one of the choicest candidates to take over from the skipper of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan, when he (Gyan) retires from national duty in future.
So far, the 19-year-old has scored many times and contributed immensely to his side’s attacking department by way of assists.
His composure, hunger for goals and ability to position himself in his opponent’s half makes him a lethal forward, and should coach Avram Grant offer him a chance, he has promised to deliver his uttermost best.
He said in an interview from his base that “Of course, it is every Ghanaian footballer’s dream to wear the national colours. I am having the best by way of performance and looking forward to the day when the coach extends invitation for my service.”
“I believe I have what is takes to make a statement when given the opportunity, my coaches and the fans here can attest to what I am saying. I also believe that I can learn a lot from Gyan when I play alongside him before he quits in future.”
“The national team are not doing bad at all, but I also think when players like myself are given the chance, we would prove our worth.”
