Daasebre Dr. Diawuo Amankona II
THE PARAMOUNT chief of Berekum Traditional Area, Daasebre Dr. Diawuo Amankona II, has tasked all churches in Bono Region to contribute towards the construction of the national cathedral.
Dr. Diawuo Amankona made the appeal last Sunday at the Church of Pentecost in Sunyani when the Bono Region took its turn in appealing for funds towards the construction of the cathedral.
The Berekumhene, who launched the fundraising, tasked Christians in the country to own the project since it is to the glory of God.
The ceremony was attended by members of various churches including the Church of Pentecost, New Apostolic Church, the Methodist Church, Ghana, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Well of Salvation, A.M.E.  Zion Church among other churches.
All heads of departments including security agents, members of the Regional Coordinating Council, Bono Regional House of Chiefs, the Ghana Education Service, the Bono Regional Minister, Municipal and District Chief Executives all participated.
The Bono Regional Minister, Justina Awo Banahene and twelve District and Municipal Chief Executives in the region pledged GH¢100,000.
Addressing the congregants, the head of the Church Relations Unit, and the Executive Assistant of interdenominational churches, Rev. Ebenezer Saka Ameyaw, spoke about the benefits the national cathedral will bring to Ghanaians when it is completed.
