The Tau Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. recently held a Talent Hunt in Accra.

The programme dubbed ‘Ghana’s Next Top Designer’ solicited designs from high school students which were shortlisted to six.

The students were coordinated through the Young and Lonely Foundation – an NGO for deprived and vulnerable children. The three winners were selected at a fashion walk programme, where models wore the clothes they designed through Kustomlooks Clothier.

Emmanuel Marfo got the first position and took home an amount of GH¢1,000; Sandra Appiah was second and had a prize of GH¢500, whilst Diana Akins placed third and picked GH¢250.

Omega Psi Phi is an international fraternity with more than 50,000 members. It has undergraduate chapters in almost every major university and graduate chapters in most major cities in the USA. There are other chapters in the U.K., Korea, Japan, Canada and many other countries worldwide.

The Tau Chi Chapter of Ghana is the only one in Africa. The fraternity is over 100 years old. Its members are sports legends, astronauts, judges, actors, celebrities, other black professionals and heroes in world history.

President of the Ghana Chapter, Dr. Carl Bampoe, said:  “The Talent Hunt is one of our mandated programmes along with our scholarship fund for high school students; we strive to impact and improve our communities”.

The Chapter has been in Ghana since 2012 and is trying to add new professionals to its ranks. Besides Kustomlooks Clothier, other corporate sponsors who contributed to the programme were the Spinal Clinic Ltd., C2i Security Services, and TEAM CSR Ghana.
