One Zuarungu Cop Killers Killed

A special Anti-Robbery squad in collaboration with the Upper East Regional Police Command has gunned down one of the three suspected armed robbers who allegedly murdered two Police officers at Zuarungu in the Upper East Region.

The deceased suspect identified as Laayaame Simon alias Yendu, 34 years, was fired through an intelligence-led special anti-robbery operation conducted by police at Kpatia in the Talensi District.

According to a statement from the police Wednesday December 22, 2022, a special targeted intelligence-led operation is being carried to get the rest of the suspects arrested.

The two police officers with the Zuarungu District Police Command were on Wednesday evening December 15, 2021 murdered by armed robbers.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 8:20pm when the Zuarungu District Command received a distress call that there was a robbery incident at the Zuarungu Market.

While the Command was mobilizing its men to respond to the call, they received another distress call that two officers had been shot dead.

The officer were identified as Constable Emmanuel Akowuah and Constable Adam Suley.

At the crime scene, the team met a burnt Service motorbike with registration number No. GP 2311 parked by the road in front of a provision shop.
Also, five empty shells of AK 47 ammunitions and an empty shell of BB Cartridge ammunition were retrieved.

According to the Police, these officers were on the Service motorbike for their routine patrols when the robbers attacked a supermarket and succeeded in robbing them.

Police has initiated move to arrest the perpetrators as a GH₵50,000 bounty has been placed on the heads of the armed robbers.

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare has also commiserated with the families of the “fallen heroes”.
One of the slain officers, Adams Sulley was buried with full Police honours last weekend at the Awudome Cemetary in Accra.

The funeral rites were performed at the Transitions Funeral Home in Haatso.

His remains was taken from the Transitions Funeral Home through some principal streets of Accra on Saturday.
