Ali Baba
Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba, born Atunyota Akpobome, has slammed persons who say COVID-19 is a scam, describing them as “compound fools”.
Speaking on Arise News about his experience with surviving the deadly virus, he wished families of those who doubt the pandemic contract the virus so they uncover the truth themselves.
According to him, the pandemic is real, reiterating it has killed a lot of people.
“I was on eight cylinders of oxygen. I am not talking about somebody said something, I’m talking about my personal experience. So when you see those idiots…anyone who says there is no COVID-19 is an idiot. If anyone is saying there is nothing like COVID-19, I wish it upon their family,” he said.
He advised Nigerians not to take the pandemic for granted, but observe the necessary protocols to stay safe.
The comedian in an Instagram post also revealed he almost succumbed to COVID-19, and was thankful to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; Akin Abayomi, the Commissioner for Health, and other caregivers who worked tirelessly to keep him alive at the Yaba Isolation Centre, where he was quarantined.
“COVID-19 is real. Don’t let anyone tell you it is a scam. I just came out of isolation, several people died, while I was there.
“Some of my close friends know, and they were very supportive.
“I thank the Lagos State Governor, the Commissioner of Health, Managing Director of the COVID-19 Isolation Centre in Yaba, doctors, especially Dr. Nifemi, who are risking their lives to keep us alive. Thanks also to the nurses.
“COVID-19 is real. Observe all the protocols, people are dying, and it is not a joke.
“In fact, anyone who says COVID-19 is a scam, is a compound idiot and a fool,” Ali Baba concluded.
