THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to start peace talks to help ensure lasting peace in Bawku.

The peace talks, according to a press statement sighted by DAILY GUIDE, is scheduled to commence from Monday, April 28 to Thursday, May 1, 2025.

The Asante Monarch would meet all the factions in the Bawku crisis in a face-to-face meeting for four continuous days on the aforementioned dates.

The historic meeting would take place at the Manhyia Palace, the official seat of the Asantehene, a press release, authored on April 15, has disclosed.

Until the important meeting takes place, the Asante King has appealed passionately to the feuding factions in the Bawku crisis to cooperate for lasting peace.

“His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will resume mediation of the Bawku crisis as agreed with both parties from April 28 to May 1, 2025 at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi.

“Asantehene requests all stakeholders to cooperate for us to find a lasting peace in Bawku,” the press statement, issued from the Manhyia Palace, announced.

Otumfuo, from sources in the Manhyia Palace, is now outside the country for short holidays, and he is expected back home soon to start the Bawku peace talks.

Before leaving the country, Otumfuo once said in public that he was working hard behind the scenes to resolve the Bawku crisis, calling for total cooperation from stakeholders.

President John Mahama, few days ago, also announced that the Asantehene would resume mediation of the Bawku conflict when he (Otumfuo) returns from a trip abroad.

The First Gentleman of the land, who was speaking at a public function in Accra, appealed passionately to the feuding factions to cooperate to ensure lasting peace.
