The Late Asamponhene, Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor
THE AUTOPSY report of the late Asamponhene, Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor, is ready, according to credible reports reaching DAILY GUIDE.
The post-mortem of the late traditional leader was said to have been conducted on Tuesday at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
According to reports, top pathologists who performed the autopsy on the body had since relayed their findings to the police to help in their investigations.
Sources at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters in Kumasi disclosed that the exact cause of the chief’s death is now known to police investigators.
All efforts by DAILY GUIDE to identify what really caused the late chief’s death had proved futile, as policemen were not ready to put that vital information out in the interim.
DAILY GUIDE checks have revealed that the autopsy report of the chief is being forwarded to the CID Headquarters in Accra.
Fresh Checks
Meanwhile, the paper’s sources at KATH have disclosed that per the autopsy report, it appears gunshot wounds were not detected on the body of the late chief.
According to them, there were visible knife wounds on the body, giving a strong indication that the Asamponhene might have been stabbed to death by the assailants.
Also, the KATH sources disclosed that Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor sustained serious wounds at the back of his head and on the left side of his forehead.
“The blood clot on some parts of his head also gives strong indication that he might have been hit with either a wood or a metal object in his head from the knife wounds inflicted,” the source said.
The Asampong Stool
In a related development, DAILY GUIDE has learnt that the Asampong Stool is one of the most revered stools at the Manhyia Palace – the seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Sources at the Manhyia Palace have disclosed that the occupants of the Asampong Stool are close to the Asantehene, as they render key services to the King.
“The Asampong Stool is not for any particular town. This is a stool whose occupant periodically plays key roles for the Asantehene at the stool house at the Manhyia Palace. The Asamponhene is among the few chiefs that have rare access to the stool house, especially where the Busumuru and other great Asante swords are kept in the palace,” according to the source.
The source also noted that the Asamponhene had oversight responsibilities of some towns, including Kotwi in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.
Suspect Still At Large
Meanwhile, Sadat Mohammed, aka Alhaji or Mallam, the man the police have declared wanted for allegedly murdering the Asamponhene, is still at large.
There are reports that the suspect was in the company of the Asamponhene on the day that the traditional leader was found dead in his car at Ejura.
Surprisingly, Alhaji, who was said to be a good friend of the Asamponhene, vanished from Kumasi few hours after the death of the chief was announced.
According to reports, Alhaji vanished with his wife, who is alleged to be one of the queen mothers in the Pekyi area in the Ashanti Region.
