The Founder and Leader of Jesus Healing Prayer Camp at Kasoa Ofaakor on the Atopi Hill in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region has committed suicide over what appears to be a failed marriage.
Osofo Peter, as he was affectionately called, was reported to have struggled to salvage his marriage and allegedly hanged himself.
Pastor Peter was said to have spent his life building a good marriage, which gave him two children only for the wife to cheat on him.
Neighbours said the pastor had been under pressure to tolerate and accommodate the alleged sexual escapades of his wife and finally succumbed to the situation on Wednesday by taking his life after the woman had served him a notice of divorce.
The neighbours claimed he was at Amasaman but moved to Ofaakor about three months ago to continue life there.
The Asafoakye of Awutu Ofaakor, Duah Quaye, claimed desperation caused by the marriage crisis, uncertainties and his powerlessness to act broke Pastor Peter down, and he took his life subsequently.
Little was publicly known about the founder of the Jesus Healing Prayer Camp, who lived at Kasoa Ofaakor Atopi Hill and was said to enjoy counselling members of his church.
The Ofaakor District Police Commander, DSP Samuel Amfoh, confirmed the sad incident and said the body had since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The police commander said apart from being a pastor, their checks showed that Osofo Peter doubled as a taxi driver.
He said they had heard about the rumours that the pastor had some marriage problems, but the police were interested in establishing the cause of death.
