Pastor Disowns Son Over Same-Sex Relationship

A pastor, Rev. Joseph Appiah, has officially disowned his son (name withheld) for engaging in same-sex relationship.

Rev. Appiah, who resides at Plot 20, Block M, Sewuah Junction in Atonsu—a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region—made this statutory declaration before a Notary Public at FY.A Law Firm (Adum, Kumasi), under the Statutory Declarations Act, 1971 (Act 389).

Providing further details, he stated that his son was born in Kumasi on April 14, 1999 to his mother, Grace Asare.

Rev. Appiah explained that he had to take the difficult decision to disown his son due to his continued involvement in same-sex relationship.

He said despite his repeated efforts to advice and counsel his son over the years, he ignored all warnings.

He further disclosed that sometime last year, his son was nearly lynched by a group of young men in Gyinase after being caught in the act.

“This behaviour has damaged my reputation and undermined my moral standing as a religious leader,” he said.

He disclosed that the entire family have decided that they will have no dealings with his son, as they are in no way supporting his activities.

“That the said act has compelled us to disown our son, and that in the circumstances we pray to all manner of persons to take note accordingly,” the statutory declaration stated.
