Minister of Economic Planning, Prof Gyan Baffour( blue shirt) hands of PPEs to Wnechi Hospital
The Minister for Economic Planning, Prof. Yaw Gyan-Baffour, has donated GH¢70,000 to the Wenchi Municipal Health Emergency Response Team to complement its response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The minister, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, made the donation to the Wenchi District Assembly. He said the donation would go a long way to support health workers in the area.
Besides, Prof. Gyan-Baffour presented personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital to support staff of the hospital.
He took the opportunity to inspect the refurbished ward of the hospital which has been turned into an isolation centre for the municipality, and commended the hospital staff and the team for their hard work.
The minister urged the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive, Prince Afriyie, and the Municipal Health Emergence Team not to rely too much on bureaucracy in disbursing the fund.
The Medical Superintendent of the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, Dr. Bosomtwi Boateng, thanked the MP for the gesture, adding that the donation would go a long time to enhance their work.
He said the team was working round the clock to prevent the municipality from recording any case, and mentioned that they had, in collaboration with other relevant bodies, carried out sensitizations on the precautionary measures to be taken by residents of the area.
